RCCG December 2021 Thanksgiving Service Sermon
TOPIC: Songs of Victory
MINISTERING: Pastor E.A. Adeboye
TEXT: Psalm 3:1-3
Psalms 3:1-3 KJV – LORD, how are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me. 2 Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. 3 But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.
This Sunday morning we just want to bless the name of the Lord for His goodness, for His mercy, for what He has done for us since the beginning of the year.
I have probably told you before that human beings are made specially to sing; we sing when we are happy, we sing when we are sad, we sing when we are fighting, we sing when we have won a battle, we even sing when we lose a battle.
If you pay attention to the song someone is singing you will be able to guess what he or she is going through. For example, if you hear somebody singing “You are the mighty man in battle, Elshaddai. You are the mighty man in battle, Jehovah Nissi. You are the mighty man in battle, Elshaddai. You are the mighty man in battle, glory to your name” that person is likely going for an interview. If he comes out of the interview successfully the song will change “He has done it for me(4ce) what my father cannot do, He has done it for me”. That is likely to be the song of someone who attended an interview and succeeded. If he fails at the interview the song will be “We will overcome, we will overcome, We will overcome someday; deep in my heart I do believe, We will overcome someday”
If you hear someone working for you and his always singing ‘Arise Oh Lord, let your enemies be scattered’ it means you are a very terrible head of department, so you better call the fellow into your office and find out what us the problem, because he might calling on the Lord of Host to come and do something about you.
When someone is going through one persecution or the other you will hear the fellow sing “The church is marching on, the church is marching on, the gates of hell shall not prevail the church is marching on”.
So, when we talk about singing songs of victories you need to know that victories are in categories; when you win in a fight against your equal, the song is special – 1 Samuel 1:1-7
You want to know how the song of Hannah went, read 1 Samuel 2:1-2.
Those of you who are married, who are having trouble in your marriage because of a strange woman trying to spoil the joy in your home, very soon, you will sing a song of victory.
The song you sing when the enemies are many is different from the one you sing when is just one – Psalms 18:1-3, Psalm 46.
When you have victory over an overwhelming enemy and God gives you the victory without a fight , the song you will sing will be different. For example, Exodus 14:10-14,21-28. Exodus 15:1-19, you will see the song that they sang “Who is like unto thee, O LORD, among the gods? who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders Halleluyah”.
The greatest victory is victory over yourself; victory over yourself in the sense that you have got victory over hell, over satan. When you consider the story of the thief on the cross, a few seconds to go he would have landed in hell and then the Almighty God saved his soul. I wasn’t there but I am sure when he found himself in paradise with the Lord Jesus Christ, his song will not be like the songs of those who are delivered from the torments of colleagues, his song will be different. When you give your life to Jesus Christ, when you know how the Lord snatched you from the jawas of hell, your songs might be many, it won’t be one. You are probably singing “ I am rejoicing, my name has been written, I am rejoicing that I am born again” That’s one of the songs I sang when I gave my life to Christ. You might be singing “Come and join me sing Halleluyah, the Jehovah Jireh has done me well”
If you are truly born again you wiki up with a song in your mouth; a song of victory. It doesn’t matter what is happening outside, you know you’re on your way to heaven; that’s enough.
If you are a true child of God, sing praises to God because without the salvation of your soul you will probably be singing another song later on.
If you are not yet born again I am inviting you to please come to the altar, surrender your life to Jesus Christ; taste and see that the Lord is good.
