TOPIC: The Appointed Time

MINISTERING: Pastor E.A. Adeboye

TEXT: Habakkuk 2: 1-3

Habakkuk 2:1-3

1  I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved. 2  And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. 3  For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry

All the promises of God for you will come to pass tonight

When I gave my life to Christ, I Had many questions, some that if I asked pastors they would throw me out of the church: questions like is it true that God knows the end from the beginning? Did he know that Adam and Eve will eat the forbidden fruit? If he knew they would eat the fruit, why did He plant it? If He planted it and ate and He knew they were going to eat it, why did He get angry for them doing what He knew that would do? You see, that is a very dangerous question.

I had many of them. Because, I know that if I go to my pastor to ask those questions they will chase me out, I turned to God himself. Finally I got an answer from Him; it was from Him that I learnt that, of all those people who had been around, that the one who got closest to the truth was Shakespare ( an English poet); and he wrote that the world is a stage and all of us are actors and actresses.

There was a play written by the Almighty God Himself and it was written down in a book – Hebrews 10:5-9. God wrote a play, wrote it down in a book –  Acts 15 vs 18. Before you are born, God wrote a play and you and I are actors and actresses in the play. Not only did He write the play, He is also the producer and director of the play – Psalm 33:11.

What He wrote in that play is what we are acting out. An actor can get on a stage and do what he likes to change how the author wrote it, but at the end of the day what the author wrote will come to play – Proverbs 19-21.

He doesn’t matter what the enemy may try the plan of God for your life can never change

Isaiah 46-10 When you see certain things happening that don’t make sense to you, it is simply part of the play. Example is the story of Joseph.

I have great confidence that all of you who are listening to me now, as the Lord lives you are going to end well

However, because God is the writer of the play he can change some things in the play.  The writer of the play can change actors, change scenes, change sequence; for example 1 Sam. 2 vs 30.

Anything that you will do that causes God to change the purpose of your life, you will never do it.

When you go through the bible you will see more and more of the play – Genesis 3:9-10, Genesis 32:24-29

When God wants to bless you He does certain things that don’t make sense. When there is a play every actor has his own time. The one who will act any part has been chosen by the author of the play – Jeremiah 1:4- 5

The mere fact that you are still alive today means God hasn’t finished with you yet. Before you are born he has already pointed out the section of the play when you will come in and what role you will play. The time you will come in, the time you will manifest is determined by him – Galatians 1:13-15, Eccl. 3:1-8. Eccl. 1:4

Luke 1:5-37 – God decided in the play Jesus Christ will come to the earth. And when he is to come someone will prepare the way before him and be six months older than him.

That’s why I have a feeling that this month many barren women will conceive

The Timing of God is always perfect because He is a perfect God – 2 Samuel 22:31,

Acts 2:1-4 –  When the day of Pentecost was fully come, God didn’t come very soon or one minute too late.

You have your own appointed time – Job 7:1

How do I know that my appointed time has come?

Genesis 12:1-3 – God told Abraham to leave his town and told him through him all the nations of the world will be blessed. Yet, he was barren. One day came, Abraham was sitting in front of his tent; his appointed time came. When your day comes, you will get a divine visitation. That of Peter came in the upper room in Acts 2, that of Paul came on his road to Damascus; location doesn’t matter when your day comes.

Lord ask me tell someone, very soon your number one enemy will come and you will say; see what the Lord has done

There is something special about Abraham’s visitation, he lifted up his eyes, he saw three men; one of them was God himself. Your divine visitor could be God himself – 2 Chronicles 1:6-12

If you are wondering how God can pay you a visit, John 1:1, 1 KIngs17:2, 1 Kings 18:1, the word of God can come to you.

The second way you can have a divine visitation is through an angel – Judges 13:1-end, Luke 1:8-20. occasionally, the angel that God can send to you is a human being – 2 kings 5:1-14

1 Samuel 1:9-20, 1 Samuel 16:11-13, 1 Kings 19:15-21 – God can send a prophet.

I PROPHECY TO SOMEONE, THIS VERY MOMENT YOUR APPOINTED TIME HAS COME

The second thing that will show you that your time has come is also in Genesis 18; an urge to be hospitable and generous will suddenly grow in you – Hebrews 13:2, 2 Kings 4:8-10.

You will discover something in Genesis 18 vs 10, that God will replace prophecies with a decree. Prophecies can be conditional – Isaiah 3:10. But when it comes to a decree God doesn’t put a condition; let there be light and there was light – Genesis 1:3 Mark 10:46-52. When your time comes, prophecies are replaced with a decree.

GOD SAID, THERE IS SOMEONE LISTENING TO ME NOW, IT DOESN’T MATTER WHAT THE ENEMY MAY TRY, YOU WILL REACH THE TOP

I DECREE IN THE NAME THAT IS ABOVE EVERY OTHER NAME, YOU WILL BE THE NEXT TO TESTIFY

There is nothing like experiencing God for yourself, when your time comes you will experience God for yourself.

An unknown author said three things about life; number one, he said life is a game, play it. When I heard that I said no, life is a play written by God, play your part. Number 2, he said life is a challenge, meet it while I would rather say, Life is a challenge, you live up to expectation. Number 3, he said life is an opportunity, seize it, I would rather say, life is an opportunity, grab it in front.

When Abraham saw these men, he ran towards them. Every opportunity you have, seize it.

There is a poem that states “There is a tide in the affairs of men, Which taken at the flood, leads on to fortune. Omitted, all the voyage of their life is bound in shallows and in miseries”. God will give everyone an opportunity, you grab it, you keep going higher and higher, you let it go, God have mercy. Tonight is your night, seize this opportunity.

Genesis 18:6 Not only did Abraham run to meet these people, he hastened to prepare them a very sumptuous meal. Your time has come, seize the opportunity and make sure that whatever you do, you do it, diligently – Proverbs 22:29 whatever you do from now on, do it diligently.

Genesis 18-8 – After serving them the meal, he waited – Learn to wait upon the Lord until you get your blessing – Isaiah 40:31, Genesis 32:24-38.

When you look at all of us that are here, and you wonder, how can I be sure that I am the one whose time has come? You can force your time to come – John 2:1-12

Whether you play your part or you don’t, the play must continue, that is what the one who wrote the play does as a substitute for every actor. That’s why we keep on crying, keep your hands in the hand of the one who wrote the play so he can direct your path.

If you have not given your life to Jesus Christ, do so now.
