Word of the day: Psalm 40 vs 6 – Obedience is Acceptable than Sacrifice
Caption: Obedience is Acceptable than Sacrifice
Psalm 40:6 – NKJV – Sacrifice and offering You did not desire; My ears You have opened. Burnt offering and sin offering You did not require.
Psalm 40:6 – NLT – You take no delight in sacrifices or offerings. Now that you have made me listen, I finally understand — you don’t require burnt offerings or sin offerings.
Psalm 40:6 – AMP – Sacrifice and offering You do not desire, nor have You delight in them; You have given me the capacity to hear and obey [Your law, a more valuable service than] burnt offerings and sin offerings [which] You do not require.
Psalm 40:6 – GNB – You do not want sacrifices and offerings; you do not ask for animals burnt whole on the altar or for sacrifices to take away sins. Instead, you have given me ears to hear you.
Psalm 40:6 – ESV – In sacrifice and offering you have not delighted, but you have given me an open ear. Burnt offering and sin offering you have not required.
Psalm 40:6 – YOR – Ẹbọ ati ọrẹ iwọ kò fẹ: eti mi ni iwọ ti ṣi: ọrẹ-ẹbọ sisun, ati ọrẹ-ẹbọ ẹ̀ṣẹ on ni iwọ kò bère.
Key: Sacrifice as well as offerings to God is good but, what God actually requires of us is to listen and obey His commandments; His commandments are not difficult (For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome – 1 John 5:3 ESV). Interestingly, His commandments are instructions for our own benefits not His.
Emphasis: God’s instructions are raw materials for the construction of your destiny.
Prayer Point: Lord Jesus we thank you for the capacity to hear and obey you which you have given unto us. Father help us to remain in constant fellowship with you. Amen
