Jeremiah 10:23 – NLT – I know, Lord, that our lives are not our own. We are not able to plan our own course.

Jeremiah 10:23 – AMP – O Lord, I know that the path of [life of] a man is not in himself; It is not within [the limited ability of] man [even one at his best] to choose and direct his steps [in life].

Jeremiah 10:23 – ESV – I know, O Lord, that the way of man is not in himself, that it is not in man who walks to direct his steps.

Key: It is not in a man to direct his own steps; Man may believe in his wisdom and intuition to know the right way to go in the journey of life but the bible made us understand that it will lead to destruction (You can rationalize it all you want and justify the path of error you have chosen, but you’ll find out in the end that you took the road to destruction. Thus, we must entrust our journey in life into the hands of God, constantly seeking for His direction in all that we do, so that He may  show us the path of life. (Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Psalm 16:11)
