The Light Daily Devotional –  When you wait upon the Lord 2

Focus: When you wait upon the Lord II

The word for today

Waiting upon the Lord is not a futile exercise, but rather a purposeful and intentional act that opens the door to receive the abundant blessings God has in store for us. When you wait upon the Lord, you align yourself with His perfect timing and purposes!

Scriptural Reference

“But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31 NKJV

In our journey towards destiny, we often desire to soar on eagle’s wings, to run without weariness, and to walk without fainting. However, such endurance and strength can only be attained through waiting upon the Lord. Waiting is not in vain when it is done properly and with the right posture of faith. It is when we allow impatience, lustful desires, and pride to drive us that waiting becomes a wasted effort, leading to weakness rather than strength.

Throughout the Bible, we find examples of individuals who experienced the transformative power of waiting upon the Lord. Abraham waited patiently for the promised son, Isaac, and was blessed to become the father of many nations. Joseph endured years of trials and imprisonment before being elevated to a position of authority and influence. The Israelites waited for decades in the wilderness before entering the Promised Land. In each of these stories, we see that waiting was not a wasted time but a crucial part of their journey toward receiving God’s blessings.

During the waiting period, God works behind the scenes, shaping our character, deepening our intimacy with Him, and preparing us to receive His blessings. Waiting is a time of spiritual growth, equipping us to appreciate and steward His blessings. Let us see waiting upon the Lord as a precious season of preparation, positioning ourselves to receive His very best. It is far better to crawl with God, patiently trusting in His timing, than to rush ahead with the enemy’s schemes. When we wait upon the Lord, we position ourselves to receive His best for our lives. Good things come to those who are willing to patiently abide in His presence and surrender to His perfect will.

+ Do you wait on the Lord?

Prayer: Lord! I receive the grace to be still and wait upon you in all situations in Jesus’ name. Amen!

Emphasis: It is through waiting upon the Lord that we position ourselves to receive the very best that He has in store for us!

Have a Gracious Thursday!
