The Light Daily Devotional – The Greatest Lessons of Life
Focus: The Greatest Lessons of Life
WORD FOR TODAY
Learning by experience is the best way to learn because there is a beast in man that loves freedom and pleasure. The greatest lessons of life are not the ones learnt in pleasure or ease but in pain!
Scriptural Reference
“Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honour the King of heaven, all of whose works are truth, and His ways justice. And those who walk in pride He can put down.” (Daniel 4:37 NKJV)
You can never forget whatever you learn through pain. Various life experiences are the most important tools that shape the orientation, place value of things in life and character of a man. God had to send King Nebuchadnezzar into the wilderness for 7 years just for him to learn the rules of Heaven (Dan 4:26) as stated in the bible verse.
David passed through the pains of living in the wilderness in preparation for ruling the people of God. This experience taught his hand to war and configured his heart after God’s heart (Ps 18:34)(Acts 13:22). What you truly know is what you have experienced.
Each time God allows you to go through pains as a result of various issues of life, it is not the case that He wants to make you weep or be at a disadvantage but to subject you to some lessons of life you need for the fulfillment of your mandate that you will naturally not submit yourself to. Don’t run away from the school of life meant to shape your life to fulfilling your purpose; cooperate with God to become what He wants you to be!
+ What have you learnt from the school of life?
Prayer Point: Lord! Help me to cooperate with you in the school of life to be who you want me to be in Jesus’ name. Amen!
Emphasis: Our greatest life lessons come out of pain!
