The Light Daily Devotional – Don’t forget who you are
Focus: Don’t forget who you are
The word for today
We are nothing except who God made us to be; our lives are products of His grace and mercy. The missing link in the lives of all men who became proud and misbehaved in destiny is that they forgot who they used to be and what they should be!
Scriptural Reference
“But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;” (1 Peter 2:9 NKJV)
When a hungry man eats to his satisfaction, he is likely to forget his hunger. However, even though he forgets his hunger, he must never forget what it means to be hungry. If you can look back, you will discover that the Lord has done so well for you. It will be very bad if you have forgotten your time of incapacitation; lack, sickness, disappointments, failure, and terrible situations in life.
Some people are still in that condition that the mercy of God lifted them from, not because they are sinners or terrible offenders before God, but because they have not obtained the mercy and favour to be chosen for greatness. Hence, you must never forget who you used to be because the ultimate secret behind your good fortune is God.
The reason you were favoured among others who were entitled to the favour you received but never got is for you to proclaim the praises of God who brought you from nothingness to prominence. It is for you to be a royal priesthood, a holy nation—God’s peculiar people meant to be a blessing to the world.
Be humble always, worship God with your existence, and never forget that you are dust and to dust, you will return.
If not for God’s mercy, what would you have become?
Prayer: Lord! I am nothing without you; I will never be proud and will declare your praise in Jesus’ name. Amen!
Emphasis: Irrespective of who you are; don’t forget the fact that you were called from nothingness to prominence!
Have an awesome Thursday!
