The Light Daily Devotional – Do You Love Me More Than These?

Focus: Do You Love Me More Than These?
WORD FOR TODAY
True love for Christ is proven by how much we’re willing to let go, how much we’re willing to give, and how much we allow Him to live through us!
Scriptural Reference
“When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, ‘Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?” — John 21:15 (NIV)
The question Jesus asked Peter after His resurrection still echoes in the hearts of believers today: “Do you love Me more than these?” It is a question that tests not just emotion, but devotion. Many things; comfort, ambition, material gain, and the desires of the flesh; will fight for your attention and affection. But Jesus is asking: “Do you love Me more than all of this?”
The true measure of love for God is not found in emotional expressions, but in sacrificial obedience and purposeful living. God’s desire is not only that we receive His love, but that we reciprocate it by living for Him. You were not saved to live for yourself; you were saved to become an extension of His hand, reaching out to a broken and dying world. To love Jesus is to live a life that reflects His heart; a life of service, sacrifice, and surrender. It means preaching the Gospel with your words and with your life. It means healing the sick, feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, housing the homeless, and caring for the widows and orphans. Each act of love done to the least among us is a demonstration of love to Christ Himself (Matthew 25:35-40).
God’s plan is not merely for you to attend church or claim His name, but to be His vessel on earth—a living channel of His compassion, His power, and His truth. When we live this way, we are not only showing that we love Him—we are also storing our treasures in heaven, where no moth or rust can destroy. Beloved, the time has come to examine your heart: What do you love more than Jesus? Are you willing to let go of anything that competes with His place in your life? Are you willing to live not for yourself, but for Him who died and rose again for you? That is the evidence of love. That is the life that pleases God.
Question for Meditation: What are the “these” in my life that I may be loving more than Christ? How can I live daily to show that I truly love Him above all else?
Prayer: Lord Jesus, I hear Your question today: “Do you love Me more than these?” Help me to respond not just with words, but with my life. Deliver me from anything that competes with Your place in my heart. Teach me to live sacrificially, to serve selflessly, and to love deeply. Let my life be an extension of Your hands and heart to the world. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Main Emphasis: Loving Jesus means living for Him. Serve with your life, give with your heart, and let your love be seen in action.
May your life become a living response to His love; a testimony that says, “Yes, Lord, You know that I love You.” Amen!
