Key: Foremost, we fear God because of who He is. He is God; our creator, the One who formed us, who breathes the breath of life in us. He created the earth and all that is in it “Lord, You are God, who made heaven and earth and the sea, and all that is in them” (Acts 4:24)
Today, people make less of the idea of what the fear of God means. Yes, our God is a loving Father but He is also a consuming fire; He is capable of good and evil and as said by our Lord Jesus, He is the only that can destroy both our soul and body in hell Therefore, we must revere Him, we must obey Him and we walk in His way and love Him And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God require of you, but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways and to love Him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, 13 and to keep the commandments of the LORD and His statutes which I command you today for your good? (Deuteronomy 10:12-13)
When we fear God, we will come to know Him more; “Then you will understand the fear of the LORD, And find the knowledge of God.” (Proverbs 2:5)
He Himself will teach us “Who is the man that fears the LORD? Him shall He teach in the way He chooses” (Psalms 25:12).
When He teaches us about who He is, He will also tell us His secrets “The secret of the LORD is with those who fear Him, And He will show them His covenant.” Psalms 25:14.
When we know God, we will love Him. “He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.” (1 John 4:8)
Evil is predominant in our society because people lack the fear of God “By fearing the Lord, people avoid evil” (Proverbs 16:6)
Prayer: Father, let the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of you rest upon me in Jesus name. Amen
