Memorise: For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. . Hebrews 4:15 NKJV

Hebrews 4:15 – AMP – For we do not have a High Priest who is unable to sympathize and understand our weaknesses and temptations, but One who has been tempted [knowing exactly how it feels to be human] in every respect as we are, yet without [committing any] sin.

Hebrews 4:15 – NIV –  For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin.

Hebrews 4:15 – NLT – This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin.

Hebrews 4:15 – TPT – He understands humanity, for as a man, our magnificent King-Priest was tempted in every way just as we are, and conquered sin.

Hebrews 4:15 – MSG – We don’t have a priest who is out of touch with our reality. He’s been through weakness and testing, experienced it all—all but the sin.

Bible verse in Yoruba:

Heberu 04:15 – Nitori a kò ni olori alufa ti kò le ṣai ba ni kẹdun ninu ailera wa, ẹniti a ti danwo li ọna gbogbo gẹgẹ bi awa, ṣugbọn lailẹ̀ṣẹ.

Key: One lie the devil uses to hold us down is that we can’t live above sin. He tells us that we are flesh and that we were born into a sinful nature, so we can’t live above sin. Because of that, we go about committing various sins and then running back to God everyday for forgiveness due to our lack of understanding.

Jesus is our role model. Jesus came to the world to show us how we can live; how we can live above both sin and temptation.

Jesus was tempted but yet with no sin. Yes, we will say Jesus wasn’t tempted to commit some sins we indulge in this century, we can also say Jesus is the Son of God and is immortal. But, remember Jesus came to earth as a man, He wore the same flesh that we wear and was also born into the sinful nature as we are, yet he still stood out.

Also, remember, (‘For in him we live and move and have our being. Acts 17:28, In this world we are like Jesus 1 John 4:17) we are like Jesus on earth and His spirit resides in us. Thus, we can do the things He did while He was on earth (Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. John 14:12).

Therefore, perish that idea that you can’t live above sin. It takes determination to achieve any goal. Heaven is our home and that is a goal we are trying to reach. You can only reach the goal by believing in the finished work of Jesus and by faith walk in the reality of His power.

Reflection: Study the life of Jesus here on earth and thrive to live by the standard of Jesus.
