Understanding Tithing: the three conditions that must be met

Caption: Understanding Tithing: the three conditions that must be met in the paying of tithe

Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this,” Says the Lord of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there  will not be room enough to receive it. Malachi 3:10 NKJV

In tithing there are three conditions to be met:

1. All the tithes

2. into the storehouse;

3. that there may be meat in Mine House.

If these three conditions are not met, your tithe is a mere donation.

“All the tithes” all means total of 10%. If it is 9.9% it is not a tithe.

“Into the storehouse” The storehouse is the house of God. It is a church, but not necessarily every church. For the fact that a place is called a church doesn’t mean God is there. Unfortunately, it is your sole responsibility to be sure that God is in your church. If God is not there, I’m sorry, your tithe is a mere donation. It doesn’t attract the promised blessing from God.

“then there will be the place where the Lord your God chooses to make His name abide. There you shall bring all that I command you: your burnt offerings, your sacrifices, your tithes, the heave offerings of your hand, and all your choice offerings which you vow to the Lord” Deuteronomy 12:11 NKJV Then verse 13 says, Take heed to yourself that you do not offer your burnt offerings in every place that you see.

“That there may be meat in mine house”. The purpose of the tithe is for there to be resources in God’s house. Blessing you is secondary and conditioned upon fulfilling God’s purpose. when you pay your Tithe with the sole aim of making resources available in God’s House. God will surely fulfill the secondary part that is, blessing you.

Therefore, it is very wrong to take your tithe to somewhere else, like motherless homes, hospitals or what have you. It’s only your alms that you can take wherever you like. The purpose of tithe and it subsequent reward is different from the purpose and rewards of alms.

Melchizedek blessed Abram first with spiritual and physical blessings and then Abram gave him a tithe of all. Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine; he was  the priest of God Most High. And he blessed him and said: “Blessed be Abram of God Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth; Genesis 14:18‭-‬19 NKJV

If you are not paying your tithe, you are doing two things: first, you are not acknowledging that God has blessed you, and He requires 10% of the blessing. Secondly, you are simply disobedient to God’s instructions.

May the Lord grant you understanding in Jesus name.

Stay blessed
