The Light Daily Devotional – There is no end to love

Focus: There is no end to love.

WORD FOR TODAY

Every good man has a good heart. There is no end to showing love, forgiveness, and mercy to a man who has a good heart!

Scriptural Reference

“Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?” Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.” Matthew 18:21-22 NIV

We cannot help but have different experiences with people in our immediate contact. These experiences are meant to teach us what life is all about and to validate our personalities.

Jesus told his disciples the parable of the unmerciful servant, who, after receiving forgiveness from his master, failed to forgive his fellow servant for the same offense he committed (Matt 18:21–35). The mark of every true child of God is love, mercy, and forgiveness. 

Irrespective of what men have done to you as a child of God; you are not expected to pay them in their own coin. You must resemble Christ, who prayed for the men who were desperate to crucify Him. If you have been shown love in any way; it is to show you by experiencing the importance of showing love. 

Let’s try as much as possible to replicate the love shown to us in the past and also put an end to every grudge by letting go of every offense men have committed against us. What makes a man not forgive an offense is not the gravity of the offense towards him but the fact that he forgot the mercy he received and, better yet, did not allow God to work in him to exhibit His real attribute of love.

Emphasis: You will only be good if you have a good heart and the spirit of God dwells in you!
