The Light Daily Devotional – Heaven is our Home
Focus: Citizens of Heaven; heaven is our home
WORD FOR TODAY
In this fleeting life, we are but strangers and pilgrims, journeying through a world that is not our final destination. Our true home is in heaven, where our hearts long to be and where our souls will find eternal rest. The earth, with all its trials and tribulations, is merely a temporary residence—a desert drear compared to the glorious inheritance that awaits us in our Fatherland!
Scriptural Reference
“But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ.” — Philippians 3:20 (NIV)
As we navigate the dangers and sorrows that surround us on every side, we must remember that heaven is our true home. This world, with all its fleeting pleasures and inevitable pains, is not where we belong. Our hearts are set on a higher, holier place—a place where we will dwell forever in the presence of our Saviour.
Even when the storms of life rage and the tempests threaten to overwhelm us, we can take comfort in knowing that heaven is our home. The trials we face here are but for a moment, and our pilgrimage on this earth is short compared to the eternity that awaits us( 2 Corinthians 4:17 NIV). Though time’s wild wintry blast may howl around us, it will soon be overpast, and we will reach our eternal home at last.
What a glorious day it will be when we finally stand at our Saviour’s side, glorified and free from all sorrow and pain (Revelation 21:4 ). In heaven, we will be reunited with the good and the blest, those we love most and best. There, in the presence of our Lord, we too shall find rest—perfect, eternal rest.
Therefore, let us not murmur or complain about our earthly lot, for heaven is our home. Whatever trials and tribulations we face in this life, they are but temporary discomforts on the journey to our true and everlasting home. (Hebrews 13:14). We shall surely stand at our Lord’s right hand, welcomed into the fullness of joy in our Fatherland, where heaven is our home.
Meditation: Are you living with the awareness that heaven is your true home? Do you find comfort in knowing that the trials of this life are temporary, and that an eternal glory awaits you in the presence of your Savior?
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to live as a stranger and pilgrim in this world, always mindful that heaven is my true home. Strengthen my heart in the face of life’s trials, and keep my eyes fixed on the eternal inheritance that awaits me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Emphasis: This world is not our home; we are but strangers here, journeying toward our true home in heaven. Let us live with our hearts set on eternity, knowing that our trials are temporary and that an eternal glory awaits us in the presence of our Saviour.
Have a Blissful Day!
