The Light Daily Devotional – Coming to the End of Yourself

Focus: Coming to the End of Yourself

WORD FOR TODAY

The Cross is not just a symbol of salvation; it’s the place where self dies and Christ lives. Until you come to the end of yourself, the life and power of God will remain hidden in your destiny journey!

Scriptural Reference

“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.”  — Galatians 2:20 (NIV)

The journey of true transformation begins when a man comes to the end of himself. This is the very purpose and mystery of the Cross—to bring you to the place where self dies and Christ lives. As long as you still trust in your own strength, wisdom, and ability to manage life, the power of God remains hidden. But when you reach that breaking point—when you realize that the arm of flesh will always fail—it is then that God’s power begins to manifest in your life.

The natural man, governed by the flesh, is inherently selfish, prideful, and resistant to God. The sinful nature will never submit to God’s will; it will only produce more sin, rebellion, and dishonor. That is why God’s verdict over the old man is not reform, but death. It cannot be negotiated with, improved, or rehabilitated. The old man must die, and that death happens at the Cross.

Paul the Apostle said, “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me.” This is the essence of Christian living—not self-improvement, but self-crucifixion. Until you come to that end—where you stop striving, stop trying to impress God with your works, and surrender fully to His grace—you will never walk in the true power of the Spirit. It is only when you let go of self that the virtue of Christ begins to flow through you.

Many times, God allows certain trials, failures, or seasons of brokenness not to punish you, but to bring you to the end of yourself. He patiently waits for you to see how weak human effort is so that He can show you how strong His grace is. The Cross is not just a place of suffering—it is a place of divine exchange: your weakness for His strength, your sin for His righteousness, your will for His purpose.

Beloved, if you feel like you’ve come to the end of your strength, don’t despair—it may just be the beginning of divine power. Your breaking point can become your birthing point. Let the old man die, and let Christ live fully in you. Yield to the work of the Cross. Stop fighting for control. Stop leaning on the flesh. Let go, and let God take over.

Question for Meditation:Have I truly come to the end of myself, or am I still relying on the strength of the flesh? What areas of my life need to be surrendered fully to the work of the Cross?

Prayer: Lord, I come before You in humility. I acknowledge that I cannot live this life in my own strength. Bring me to the end of myself so that Christ may live fully in me. Teach me to surrender daily, to trust completely, and to walk in the power of Your Spirit. Let the old man die, that the new life in Christ may rise in me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Main Emphasis: The Cross brings you to the end of yourself so that Christ can begin His perfect work in you. Let self die, and let Christ live.

May your surrender become your strength, and may your life reflect the power and glory of Christ in you. Amen!
