The Light Daily Devotional – The Power of Asking
Focus: The Power of Asking
WORD FOR TODAY
Asking is the key that unlocks the door to receiving. In life, when you are too proud to ask, you may find yourself equally too proud to receive. There is great power in acknowledging your need and seeking help from the right sources. When in need, do not hesitate to ask—but ask in the right place and from the right people!
Scriptural Reference
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.” — Matthew 7:7-8 (NKJV)
God designed life in such a way that no one is entirely self-sufficient. From the moment we are born until the day we leave this world, we will need help in various forms and from different people. This is not a weakness; it is part of God’s divine plan. We are created to live in community, to rely on one another, and to grow through relationships and support.
God has placed people in your life to assist you on your journey. Whether it’s seeking advice, asking for guidance, or requesting a favour, asking is an essential part of moving forward in life. Pride often stands in the way of asking. When a man is too proud to ask for help, he risks living a life of frustration and missed opportunities. Pride isolates you; it cuts you off from the blessings that could come through the assistance of others.
If you need a job, you must ask in the right places. You cannot sit at home and expect opportunities to fall into your lap. You need to network, apply, and seek help from those in a position to assist you. Similarly, if you are a young man seeking a wife, you must ask God in prayer for guidance on who your life partner should be. And when God reveals the person to you, be bold enough to ask her out. Every husband today, at some point, had to ask their wife to join them on the journey of life. If you need wisdom you must ask from God.
When you are confused about your direction in life, ask questions from the right people. Seek out mentors, advisors, and people who have walked the path before you. Life will not give you anything by default. Asking requires boldness. It takes courage to admit that you need help, guidance, or direction; asking is the first step toward receiving what you need. Think about the men and women who have achieved great things in life. At one point or another, they had to ask for something: a job, a favour, an introduction, or advice.
Success does not come to those who remain silent. It comes to those who are bold enough to ask for what they need.
Meditation: Are there areas where you need help but have been too proud or afraid to ask?
Prayer: Lord, Help me to boldly ask for what I need, knowing that You are a good Father who desires to give good gifts to Your children. Give me the wisdom to ask in the right places and from the right people. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Emphasis: Asking is the key to receiving. Life will not hand you anything by default. Be bold, be humble, and ask for what you need.
Be bold in your asking, knowing that God is ready to give, and people are ready to help, but only if you ask.
