Word of the day: Romans 8 vs 15 – Be Free from Fear

Caption: Be Free from Fear

Memorise: For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. Romans 8:15 KJV

Romans 8:15 – NLT – So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.”

Romans 8:15 – AMP – For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading again to fear [of God’s judgment], but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons [the Spirit producing sonship] by which we [joyfully] cry, “Abba! Father!”

Romans 8:15 – NIV – The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.”

Romans 8:15 – TPT – And you did not receive the “spirit of religious duty,” leading you back into the fear of never being good enough. But you have received the “Spirit of full acceptance,” enfolding you into the family of God. And you will never feel orphaned, for as he rises up within us, our spirits join him in saying the words of tender affection, “Beloved Father!”

Bible verse in Yoruba:

Romu 08:15 – Nitori ẹnyin kò tun gbà ẹmí ẹrú lati mã bẹ̀ru mọ́: ṣugbọn ẹnyin ti gbà ẹmí isọdọmọ, nipa eyi ti awa fi nke pé, Abba, Baba.

Key: When you become a believer, you are automatically given authority by God. Authority over demons, over the devil and over sin but many of us do not know this.

The devil knows this very well that that is the secret to our Christian warfare. In order to prevent you from getting this revelation, he puts fear in you.

Fears that your sins haven’t been completely forgiven, fears for returning back into sin, fears about hell, fears about God accepting you fully, fears about the power of God in you not being sufficient to keep you. These fears keep eating you up till you start feeling unworthy or incompetent. Unconsciously you begin to go back into your shell.

You start committing sins then the fears make you unable to ask for forgiveness because you feel God is already tired of forgiving you. You get frustrated and then condemn yourself forgetting about the lost sheep that the good shepherd ran back to look for.

Yes you have been given power and boldness but it doesn’t start manifesting in a day.

The disciples didn’t start performing miracles in a day, it happened because they waited.

Since the day you gave your life to Christ you have been completely transformed, you are a new person, your old life has been cleaned off. The Devil just keeps those fears in you to tie you down.

Now you have been given authority, exercise the authority by resisting and rebuking the devil whenever he comes with lies. Now stand up in faith, you are a new person, wait, pray, fellowship with the Father with boldness and see if you won’t have joy.

Reflection: Don’t let the devil pull you down with lies, you are free, you are loved. You are God’s child.
