Key: The fear of God according to our text, simply means to hate evil, to eschew pride and perverse talk. As seen in the Bible, each of the three things mentioned would bring destruction to a man who embraces it. Evil doers shall be cut-off – Psalms 37:9. Pride leads to destruction – Proverbs 16:18. A perverse talker would destroy himself – Proverbs 13:3.
A man who has the fear of God instilled in him will do good at all times, would be humble, and will speak honorably. So, search your hearts, if your character and attitude reflects the fear of God.
Action: Before you can have the fear of God, you must acknowledge that there is God in heaven and HE is God and He reigns in Majesty. First, you must give your life to Christ. Then, the Holy Spirit, the greatest teacher, would teach you about God; because if you don’t know God, you can’t fear Him, if you don’t fear God, you can’t love God, if you don’t love God you can’t love your fellow human.
