Proverbs 1:19 – NIV – Such are the paths of all who go after ill-gotten gain; it takes away the life of those who get it.

Proverbs 1:19 – NLT – Such is the fate of all who are greedy for money; it robs them of life.

Proverbs 1:19 – AMPC – So are the ways of everyone who is greedy of gain; such [greed for plunder] takes away the lives of its possessors.

Key: The bible says that every good and perfect gift comes from God. There is nothing God gives a man that causes problems to the man nor does the man look at it and regret ever having it .

God gives you things that fit you, that you need and at the right time you need it. It’s so pitiful that most of us have become so impatient that we desire to get the things we want irrespective of God’s idea about it. Even when the holy spirit keeps telling us that what we run after or seek for us is bad for us or it even isn’t the right time to have it. We forget that God owns time and knows everything, we are just subject to our own emotions and later end up in trouble.

The bible text emphasizes that every ill-gotten wealth takes away the life of who gets it. Everything you get out of the will of God will take away your life at the end of the day. 

A funny saying: your flesh or emotions won’t follow you to eternity, but your spirit will. So why succumb to the flesh when it comes to your desires.

Reflection: Think about and search for everything you have gotten outside God’s will, drop it all and tell God to take over your desires.
