John 5:39 – KJV – Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

John 5:39 – NLT – You search the Scriptures because you think they give you eternal life. But the Scriptures point to me!

John 5:39 – AMP – You search and investigate and pore over the Scriptures diligently, because you suppose and trust that you have eternal life through them. And these [very Scriptures] testify about me

John 5:39 – GNB – You study the Scriptures because you think that in them you will find eternal life. And these very Scriptures speak about me!

John 5:39 – MSG – “You have your heads in your Bibles constantly because you think you’ll find eternal life there. But you miss the forest for the trees. These Scriptures are all about me!

Key: When you read the Bible cognitively you may know the book, not the author. Everything is the scriptures was screaming Jesus yet the Pharisees can’t see it. The scriptures have always been intended to direct our hearts to a Person, CHRIST! We read the Bible to add The Life to our life.

Action: Study the Bible to know more about the finished works of Christ and its impact in your life.
