Bible verse in Yoruba:

Jobu 05:02 – Nitoripe ibinu pa alaimoye, irúnu a si pa òpe enia.

Key: Anger, envy are things that affect human life negatively.

There are two brothers in the bible who offered sacrifice to God. One’s sacrifice was accepted while the other one wasn’t accepted. The one whose sacrifice wasn’t accepted got angry and jealous of the other and killed the other. The incident made God curse him. (Read Genesis 4:1-16)

When you get angry or jealous about a person’s progress it means you don’t have faith in yourself, it means you believe you don’t have any capacity in you to make any progress.

Envy prevents you from seeing the beautiful things in your life and makes you focus more on what another person has that you don’t. Envy causes bitterness, Envy causes backwardness because the time you are meant to work on yourself, you focus it on someone else’s life.

Someone once said when God blesses your neighbor it means he is in the neighborhood and your blessing is coming to you also.

Even the bible says rejoice with those that rejoice. Rejoicing with people makes you feel at peace, your joy and even confidence in yourself increases. You unconsciously start making progress and even your relationship with people improves.

Anger and envy can’t do any good to you, it means you already believe you are hopeless and if you believe you are hopeless and can’t receive blessings from God, how can God bless you.

Reflection: Anger and envy rests in the bosom of fools and eventually kills the fool.
