Word of the day: Hebrews 7 vs 8 – God is the Receiver of Tithes

Caption: God is the Receiver of Tithes

Memorise: And here men that die receive tithes; but there he receiveth them, of whom it is witnessed that he liveth.

Hebrews 7:8 KJV

Hebrews 7:8  – NLT – The priests who collect tithes are men who die, so Melchizedek is greater than they are, because we are told that he lives on.

Hebrews 7:8  – AMP – Furthermore, here [in the Levitical priesthood] tithes are received by men who are subject to death; but in that case [concerning Melchizedek], they are received by one of whom it is testified that he lives on [perpetually].

Hebrews 7:8  – EASY ENGLISH –The Levite  priests receive gifts, and they are people who one day will die. Melchizedek also received gifts, but we are told that he continues to live.

Hebrews 7:8  – GNB – In the case of the priests the tenth is collected by men who die; but as for Melchizedek the tenth was collected by one who lives, as the scripture says.

Key: There are two key lessons to note from this scripture: 1. Our tithes are received and acknowledged by God though it is received by the Pastor of the church we pay it to. That is, we pay tithe to God not the church or Men of God.  2. Our tithe is to proclaim that Jesus is alive in our lives. When you don’t pay your tithe there is no witness that He lives in you.

PS: Jesus is priest after the order of Melchizedek. (Psalms 110:4 – The LORD hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek.)

Action: Pay your tithe always.
