Word of the day: 2 Corinthians 5 vs 16 – Don’t Judge Others

Caption – Don’t judge others by human standards

2 Corinthians 5:16 – NLT – So we have stopped evaluating others from a human point of view. At one time we thought of Christ merely from a human point of view. How differently we now him now!

2 Corinthians 5:16 – KJV – Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.

2 Corinthians 5:16 – MSG – Because of this decision we don’t evaluate people by what they have or how they look. We looked at the Messiah that way once and got it all wrong, as you know. We certainly don’t look at him that way anymore.

2 Corinthians 5:16 – GNB – No longer, then, do we judge anyone by human standards. Even if at one time we judged Christ according to human standards, we no longer do so.

2 Corinthians 5:16 – NET –  So then from now on we acknowledge no one from an outward human point of view. Even though we have known Christ from such a human point of view, now we do not know him in that way any longer.

Key: In the text, Paul was urging us to move past judging and evaluating others based on their outward appearance and possession, especially fellow believer. Jesus Christ was disparaged in his hometown. Because of this He didn’t perform any miracle there – Matthew 13:56-58.

Only God knows what’s in the heart of a man (Jer. 17:10 I, the LORD, probe into people’s minds. I examine people’s hearts. I deal with each person according to how he has behaved. I give them what they deserve based on what they have done.) Except you have the Spirit of God in you, you cannot evaluate others (1 Cor 2:10 God has revealed these to us by the Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.)

If you see beyond the physical, you will be less condemnatory

Dr. Leke Alder

Action: Don’t judge others/ don’t look down on any man. The boy on the street today could be the Governor of the State in few years to come. I pray the Spirit of God teach us to do as according
