1 John 5:14  – NIV –  This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.

1 John 5:14 – NLT – And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him.

1 John 5:14 – AMPC – And this is the confidence (the assurance, the privilege of boldness) which we have in Him: [we are sure] that if we ask anything (make any request) according to His will (in agreement with His own plan), He listens to and hears us.

Bible verse in Yoruba:

1 Johannu 05:14 – Eyi si ni igboiya ti awa ni niwaju rẹ̀, pe bi awa ba bère ohunkohun gẹgẹ bi ifẹ rẹ̀, o ngbọ ti wa:

Key: God loves us so dearly..He cares so much that when we kneel to pray He is willing to listen to our prayers. But, there are some reasons why we don’t get results when we pray. Our sins; (Behold, the LORD’s hand is not shortened, That it cannot save; Nor His ear heavy, That it cannot hear. 2 But your iniquities have separated you from your God;

And your sins have hidden His face from you, So that He will not hear. Isaiah 59:1-2) our sins stand as a barrier between our prayers and God.

Also, we don’t get results when we pray due to the state of our heart and the level of our faith. (But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.

James 1:6‭-‬7 NLT)

In addition, our prayers don’t get answered because it doesn’t align with the word of God. Pray according to the word of God; reading the Bible and praying goes hand in hand. If you don’t study your Bible you won’t know the heart of God towards you, you won’t know the thoughts of God or even God’s standard. The bible says God honors His word more than His name, so when you read your Bible you get some cheats on what you should pray about or even add to your prayers that will attract God’s attention. The word of God is the mind of God. You can’t speak to a God and get his attention if you don’t apply His words in your prayer.

Finally, we don’t get answers because we pray to God for things that are outside His will and purpose for us. We can know the will of God through the Holy Spirit who reveals things to us and also through the Word of God.

Reflection: Look at your life and fetch out the things hindering your prayers from being answered. Work on them.
