In a Time Like This: What should Christians do?

In a time like this; the world is hit with a pandemic, death all-around, depression, unhappiness, sicknesses, absence of hope, fear has eroded the hearts of believers. Christians are renouncing their faith. Believers are praying and it seems heavens are shut. Believers are asking, where is God in these times?

So, what should Christians do in a time like this?

II Chronicles 7:14 NKJV “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”

One major thing Christians must do in a time like this is to turn away from every act of sin and Return to the Lord – We can’t continue in sin and still expect God to pour His blessings.  Isaiah 59:2 NKJV “But your iniquities have separated you from your God; And your sins have hidden His face from you, So that He will not hear.”

In returning to the Lord, Christians must do the following:

  • PRAY: “and pray and seek My face” – We must first pray for the forgiveness of sins and thereafter give ourselves to prayer; constantly seeking the face of God. (Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. James 5:13a NKJV ) And surely He will hear us, deliver us from every affliction and He will heal our land from sicknesses and diseases. Most importantly, Christians must learn to pray at night. Remember “When men slept, enemies sowed tares” (Matthew 13:8). Power is exchanged when men sleep. If you want total victory, learn to pray in the night.

Remember, if you love sleep more than your destiny, life will cheat you over and over again

  • HOLD ON TO FAITH/KEEP REJOICING: Hebrews 10:23 – KJV- “Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering;for he is faithful that promised” – After praying, leave the timing of the answer to God. He has promised, He will surely fulfill His promises. Therefore, worry less; keep rejoicing, giving thanks to God for answered prayers. “for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” Nehemiah 8:10b NKJV (Read more: https://ferventxtian.com/word-of-the-day-nehemiah-8-vs-10-the-joy-of-the-lord-is-your-strength/) – Worrying won’t add anything to you; it will only damage your bones. ‘But a broken spirit dries the bones. Proverbs 17:22”.

Most importantly, your harvest lies “in Joy” Those who sow in tears Shall reap “IN JOY” – Psalms 126:5 NKJV  – – The food of the spirit in time like this is “JOY”.

In conclusion: “Be holy, for I am holy”- 1 Peter 1:16 –  It is the desire of God that we live a holy and acceptable life. His face cannot behold iniquity (Isaiah 59:1) neither can He hear the prayers of a sinner (John 9:31). So, He cannot bless us if we ignore His commandments and continue in sin. And, the good news is, His commandments are not grievous (1 John 5:3). His yoke is easy and His burden is light. He is calling on the world today saying “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28 NKJV

Prayer: Father, we have returned to you, please forgive our sins and heal our land because of the Blood of Jesus which is an atonement for our sins. Amen

If you’d like to give your life to Christ, please pray this: “Father, I acknowledge that I am a sinner, I confess that Jesus died for me, took all my infirmities and raised Him from the dead. Lord please have mercy on me. I accept Jesus today as my Lord and Savior. Amen.”
